About me

I’m a Connecticut-based basket weaver with 15 years of experience weaving, teaching, and sharing the craft with others. At the heart of my work is a simple goal: building community through a love of fiber arts.

My journey into basket weaving begins with one of the most talented and well-rounded fiber artists I know—and am lucky enough to call my mother. My mom is a master loom weaver who has explored seemingly every corner of the fiber arts, from basketry and quilting to spinning, knitting, felting, and more.

I learned to weave baskets in 2010, at age 16, when my mom encouraged me to sign up for a youth basket weaving class at Hill Institute in Florence, Massachusetts. I even convinced a few friends to join me so there would be enough students for the class to run.

Basketry took a back seat during college, but in 2018, my grad school roommates and I decided that our backyard chicken coop clearly needed a handmade egg basket. That project brought me back to weaving. I began teaching friends, experimenting with new techniques, and eventually selling my work and teaching private lessons and group classes. Although graduate school meant stepping away from selling for a while, I never stopped weaving.

Over the years, I’ve realized that teaching is my favorite part of the craft. I love the joy that new students experience when they turn a tangle of reed into something beautiful and functional with their own hands. My mother’s enthusiasm for sharing fiber arts was passed down to me, and I hope to carry that same energy into every class I teach.

Today, I continue to make and sell my own baskets, but I’m most excited about creating opportunities for people to learn, craft, and connect with one another.

When I’m not weaving or working as an atmospheric scientist, you’ll usually find me traveling with my husband, visiting family in Massachusetts, baking, camping, hiking, running, take my two dogs for walks, or buying entirely too many native plants for my pollinator garden.
